Responsibilities
- Advised international brand owners such as easyGroup IP Licensing Limited (brand owner of easyJet, easyCar, easyHotel, easyCruise etc) on international IPR enforcement and exploitation strategies: took action against infringers, negotiated settlements and drafted settlement agreements/undertakings.
- Advised government agency (NS&I) directors on reputational risk strategies as well as trade mark registration and enforcement strategies (succeeded in registering trade mark PREMIUM BONDS, which had previously failed, by instructing counsel in argument at a hearing before the Intellectual Property Office's principal Hearing Officer).
- Advised a distributor of the risks of selling an item which would allegedly infringe a competitor's patent. Drafted an indemnity for agreement with the supplier and advised and acted in subsequent, pre-patent claim, correspondence with the patentee.
Profile
Daniel qualified as a barrister in London in October 2006, having been called to the bar in July 2005. He left London in April 2007 to join the Southampton office of Clarke Willmott and joined Thomas Eggar LLP in January 2009.Types of client
